Like many therapists and practitioners working in animal allied health, I began my journey with people.
In 2005 I achieved a Degree in Drama at the University of Wales in Aberystwyth before moving to Australia and studying for three years for a Diploma in Alexander Technique Teaching. I also gained a Diploma in Teaching Alexander Technique & Yoga, combining movement re-education with the practice of hatha yoga. In 2010 I completed my Diploma of Remedial Massage and undertook Pilates instructor training in 2014. I added further skills in myofascial cupping, dry needling and administering low level laser therapy.
However, having grown up with dogs, cats, horses, guinea pigs and fish (even stick insects for a short period!) I felt something was missing and needed more nature and animals in my life. Being part of a successful remedial massage and myotherapy business in Melbourne means I can't quite run for the farm just yet but it seemed a natural progression to apply some of the same knowledge I've acquired over the past decade or so working in human health, to helping dogs.
I studied Canine Remedial Massage at Canine Health and Wellbeing Academy and upon graduating started Dogsbody Health. Understanding the benefits of laser therapy from my work with people, I decided to purchase a veterinary laser to complement my massage treatments and further help dogs in need. I am fully insured and a member of the Australian Canine Rehabilitation Association and continue to expand my knowledge of canine health by also working in the veterinary industry alongside fantastic veterinarians and nurses and a veterinary acupuncturist.
Outside of work I foster greyhounds for Gumtree Greys and spend time with my own greyhounds, Bobby and Tia.
